Small Talkの提案 〜『ONE WORLD Smiles 5』 Lesson 8 Where is the station?〜
Lesson 8では、道案内の表現や、施設の名前、ものなどの位置を示す表現を扱います。本単元のSmall Talkは、道案内に関する内容とLesson 8 p. 90で扱う位置の表現に関する内容に分け、少なくとも２度は実施できるとよいでしょう（下記展開例《例１》と《例２》を参照）。
《例１》は道案内に関する内容で、「先生の家へ遊びにいらっしゃい」をテーマに、模造紙大の略地図を使って、バス停から自宅までの行き方を中心に構成します。《例２》は位置の表現に関する内容で、ペットの犬の写真を複数準備し（犬がどこにいるかがわかりやすいもの）、Where is 〜?を中心に構成する案としました。ペットではなく好きな動物の写真を用いたり、写真の代わりに絵を使用したりしてもよいでしょう。ぬいぐるみと箱を使って、教室のいろいろな場所に置きながら発話することもできます。指導者の部屋にあるものやペット、お気に入りのものなどを話題に使用すると、子どもたちの興味関心もより高まるでしょう。
Small Talkの提案
Lesson 8のSmall Talkを私自身が行う場合の、展開例を示します。
《例１（単元の前半・後半、どこであっても実施可能）》
準備物
● バス停から自宅までの略地図（模造紙大）
T：Look at this map. This is my house. I'll show you how to come to my house. First, get off the bus at this bus stop. （バス停を指しながら）You are here. You can see a police station. Next, go straight for two blocks. You can see a flower shop on your left. Turn right and go straight. You can see Takadai Elementary School. My house is in front of the school. Now, you know how to come to my house. I look forward to your visit.
《例２（Lesson 8 p. 90の活動前の実施を想定）》
準備物
● ペットの犬の写真（複数枚）
T：Do you like dogs? I like dogs. （ペットの犬がいすのそばにいる写真を示して）This is my dog, Meru. He is eight years old. He is cute. He is by the chair. （風呂に入っている写真を示して）Where is he?
S：お風呂！
T：That's right. He is in a bathtub. He is taking a bath. He likes taking baths.（ソファーの上にいる写真を示して）Where is he?
S：ソファーの上！
T：Yes, he is on the sofa. He is sleeping. He likes sleeping, too. （公園の木の下にいる写真を示して）Where is he?
S：木の下！
T：Yes, he is under the tree. I always walk with him in this park. Do you have any pets? What animal do you have[like]?
※場所を示すby / in / on / under（下線部）を強調し、理解を促すようにするとよい。
